Mr Brady
Brandon Crowel, aka Mr Brady, A San Diego native now residing in Long Beach
California, is a well respected veteran producer/emcee that has been putting out
quality innovative hip hop music for many years. Since 1995, Mr Brady has been a
successful artist whom has achieved many accolades as a solo artist as well as with
his group Deep Rooted.
His journey began in 1996 when he was asked to feature on the Tony da Skitzo song
Storm brewin. The well received song caught buzz around the world from getting
spins on shows like, the world famous Friday Night Flava Show to write ups in
magazines like Rap Pages. This caught the attention of Battle Axe Records out of
Vancouver, Canada where he got signed to his first solo deal. He started touring
heavily all over Canada and United States. In 2000 he released his classic
underground hit Let my Record Rotate that sold 1000’s records worldwide and then
he went on to release his debut solo album Dirty. The album featured the likes of
Evidence from Dilated Peoples to Label mates Swollen Members. This album was
well received around the world and only increased his buzz.
After two solo albums on Battle Axe Records and having songs on multiple
compilations, Mr Brady left the label to take his music in anther direction. In 2003
in his hometown San Diego, he formed the group Deep Rooted with San Diego
favorites, Johaz, singer Just Brea, and Dj Artistic. In 2004 they released their first
album A New Beginning. The album caught wind everywhere. The group won best
album of the year at the San Diego Music Awards that year. They went on to release
two more albums, The Second Coming and D.E.E.P.R.O.O.T.E.D. Those two albums
also won best albums of the year as well as best hip hop group, winning a total of 4
awards, the most ever in San Diego hip hop history.
After releasing their last album in 2009 on Tajai from Souls of Mischief label, Clear
Label Media, they went on to do multiple tours with the likes of Strong Arm Steady
and Souls of Mischief as well as having their video played on MTVU. After years of
so much success as a group, everyone decided it was time to pursue solo careers and
other personal ambitions, Mr Brady returned to his solo roots. From 2009 until
now, he has released an incredible 13 projects and released at least 19 vinyl records.
He released albums with Moka Only, LMNO and more. His compilation Labor of
Love, produced entirely by Mr Brady, featured the likes of heavyweights Aloe Blacc,
Diamond D, Blu, Guilty Simpson and more.
After touring Europe and The UK in 2009, Mr Brady continued to pump out projects
and tour. Fast forward to 2014, Mr Brady is sharper than he has ever been. With his
new album Timing is Everything set to be released, March 18, 2014, it’s evident why
he’s been in the game and remained relevant all these years. Not only did he handle
all the rhyme duties on every track, he also produced and mixed it all himself. The
soulful hard hitting album features Blu, The Grouch, Exile and more. With his
passion, drive and love for the music, it’s safe to say, Mr Brady is here to stay!
